Privacy Policy for Serenate

Welcome to Serenate. Your privacy is critically important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Serenate mobile application (the “App”).

1. Information We Do Not Collect

Serenate is designed to be a private mindfulness companion. We do not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or share any personal identifiable data to use the core features of the App. All of your meditation history, tracking, bookmarks, and settings are stored locally on your device.

2. Information We Do Collect (Third-Party Services)

To keep the app stable and running smoothly, we use one third-party service that may collect certain device or diagnostic information:

• Firebase Crashlytics: We use Crashlytics to monitor the app’s stability and identify bugs. If the App crashes, an anonymous crash report is sent to us so we can fix the issue. These reports contain diagnostic information about the crash, the operating system version, and the device state, but they do not contain personal user data.

Serenate contains no advertising. The App does not serve ads, does not include an advertising SDK, and does not collect or share advertising identifiers. It does not track you across apps or websites.

3. How We Use Your Information

The anonymous diagnostic data collected by Crashlytics is used solely to:

• Identify, diagnose, and fix bugs or performance issues.

4. Network Requests the App Makes

Apart from crash reporting, the App makes two small network requests. Neither sends personal data, and neither requires an account:

• YouTube title lookup: When you save a bookmark for a YouTube video, the App asks YouTube’s public oEmbed endpoint for that video’s title, so the bookmark can be labeled for you. Only the video link you are saving is sent.
• Update check on launch: When the App starts, it downloads a small JSON file from our public GitHub page to check whether a newer version of Serenate is available. It is a plain file download and sends nothing about you or your device.

5. Data Security

We are committed to protecting the limited diagnostic data we receive. All data transmitted to Google’s Firebase services is encrypted in transit and follows Google’s stringent security and privacy standards.

6. Third-Party Links

The App may contain links to external websites (such as a GitHub repository, Google Forms for feedback, or a Ko-fi donation page). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of these external sites once you leave the Serenate app domain.

7. Children’s Privacy

Serenate does not knowingly collect any personal data from children under the age of 13. Given the anonymous, local-first nature of the App, we do not require or collect age verification.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to account for new features or SDKs. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
